3700 S Iv Mile Run

Central to Arlington's arts community, 3700 South Four Mile Run is home base of operations to a number of ensembles, including WSC Avant Bard and Jane Franklin Dance. With everything from a mini-gallery for visual fine art and two dance studios with sprung wood floors, to meeting rooms and the 80-seat black box Theatre on the Run, the venue is busy from forenoon till night with everything from rehearsals and classes, to pop-upwardly maker events. In 2017, the lively interior happenings were reflected on the exterior with a fun landscape by artist Ham Smith!

Theatre on the Run

Theatre on the Run is an intimate 80-seat black box theatre within 3700 where guests can catch a show by WSC Avant Bard or even have Ballet Barre classes with Jane Franklin Trip the light fantastic toe. Studio 3700

A hallway within 3700 with 2 halls containing approximately 25 anxiety each of exhibition space and natural likewise equally focused lighting has been repurposed into an exhibition space overseen by Arlington Cultural Affairs. "For the foreseeable future, Arlington County Government will be modifying, postponing, or canceling some public events, which create environments where a virus can spread rapidly amid issue workers and participants, in attempts to mitigate and contain the spread of COVID-nineteen.The reception for the exhibit RECOVERY, which was scheduled on Friday, March 13 from 3-5pm will therefore be rescheduled.A new date and time for the reception will be appear in a few weeks  or when this public wellness emergency begins to subside."

Places In Paper
September ix – December 17, 2019

Gallery 3700, housed in the Arlington Cultural Affairs building, will present "Places in Newspaper" this autumn, an showroom of the Lodge of American Papercutters (GAP).  The show features the work of thirty-four artists from seventeen states and Lithuania who all utilize cut paper in their artwork.

Visitors will run into an astounding variety of papercutting, including Polish, Jewish, Indonesian, and Chinese styles, every bit well as photorealist, sculptural, and silhouette techniques.  Many of the artists will attend the opening reception on Oct 12, during which posters about the history of papercutting will also be on display.

GAP board member and Arlington creative person Melanie Kehoss curated the showroom, with the help of jurors Anne Burton (gallery directory at Blackrock Center for the Arts) and Tamar Shadur (owner Shadur Arts), and support from Arlington County's individual artist grant.  In conjunction with the exhibit, Kehoss volition teach a papercutting workshop in November through the Arlington Arts Enterprise Institute.

The Art of Cut Paper

Spend a Saturday afternoon learning the basics of knife papercutting from creative person Melanie Kehoss.  Inspired by the showroom, "Places in Paper," participants will create their ain slice near identify.  Perfect for people who love to depict and for teachers looking for new projects, this workshop will provide many tips, tricks, and the bulk of supplies.

Kehoss has been making papercut art for fifteen years and serves on the executive board of the Club of American Papercutters.  With an MFA from Academy of Wisconsin-Madison, she is an exhibiting creative person, teacher, and cultural worker.

Arlington Weaves, Etc. "Textiles & Tools"  – November 9, 2017 – Dec ix, 2017

A signature program of Arlington Section of Man Services and implemented by ServiceSource, Arlington Weaves, Etc. is an established Made in Arlington vendor. Arlington Weaves, Etc. provides support to adults with developmental disabilities by didactics them technical and social skills and by helping to improve their self-sufficiency. Participants in this unique program produce sophisticated paw-woven items ranging from traditional fine fine art to yoga mat strap, tea towels and issue weekend tote numberless.

The Edifice

Before the landscape on the façade of 3700 Due south Four Mile Run was created, the vibrant arts hub didn't stand out amongst the industrial buildings surrounding it in Four Mile Run Valley. In response to a need from a dedicated group of artists who utilise 3700 Due south Four Mile Run as a home base to bring more visibility to the building, Arlington County Cultural Affairs commissioned artists Ham Smith to create the brilliant and whimsical mural that'south now at that place. His most recent projects have been commissioned in New York City, Los Angeles, Virginia, and Savannah. His mural on 3700 is set on a background of saffron yellow, the artist reflects the vibrancy of the edifice'southward daily activities with images that merits the creative identity. Learn more nearly Ham Smith.

Arts Lab

The Arts Lab brings artists, behind the scenes technicians, creatives, and the community together for interactive learning and creative experiences. Parking

Free parking is bachelor during performances in the lot in the rear of the edifice. To admission this lot turn onto S. Oakland Street and make the kickoff left backside the building.

There are additional, smaller complimentary parking lots on S. Oakland Street and S. 4 Mile Run Drive.

Express Street parking is bachelor along S. Iv Mile Run Drive, S. Oakland Street, and S. Neloson Street. This parking is metered, but free later on 6 PM.

Public Transportation

Past Charabanc  – At that place is a autobus cease just outside 3700 located at South. Iv Mile Run Drive and South. Nelson Street. The 25-C and Art 75 busses run regularly through this cease from the Shirlington Autobus Station. From the bus terminate, walk along S. Four Mile Run toward Southward.
